Alex Ward Quintet: ‘Glass Shelves And Floor’ Album Launch. Sunday 24th May from 3:30-6:30pm

Hundred Years Gallery is delighted to welcome back The Alex Ward Quintet for their second visit of 2015

Alex Ward Quintet

Alex Ward, clarinet, guitar, compositions, Hannah Marshall, cello, Olie Brice, double bass, Rachel Musson, tenor saxophone, Tom Jackson, clarinet and bass clarinet

Launch show for the debut album by the Alex Ward Quintet, ‘Glass Shelves And Floor’, out now on Copepod Records. The Quintet features several of the most exciting UK-based musicians currently working in the fields of composed and improvised music, and the album comprises studio and live versions of the extended work which the ensemble was originally convened to perform. In addition to a complete performance of ‘Glass Shelves And Floor’, which conjures up a soundworld evocative of contemporary chamber music and brings to it the vigour and raw exploration of free improvisation, this concert will also feature newer material bespeaking an askew-but-fond relationship to the ‘jazz’ tradition
