Simon Allen / Jan Hendrickse / Sandro Mussida: Pressure Observations. Saturday 11th June 7:30pm

pressureAn evening of improvised and semi-scripted sound conversations. Simon Allen – glass harp, objects / Jan Hendrickse – flutes, objects / Sandro Mussida – cello.

Simon Allen is a composer and performer whose sound integrates instruments with objects and commonplace materials. Working in improvisation, experimental music, theatre and film he is at present completing an audio/text/image piece Time Passed Into Time Past that investigates a decaying 19th century barrel piano, and scoring a film Woof Woof Woof about theatre director and Shakespeare scholar John Barton.

Jan Hendrickse is a sound artist, composer and improvising musician. Recent works/commissions include a site specific choral work for the MusArc choir, installation works for disused prison cells and a sound score for ‘Hidden Architectures’ with choreographer Saffy Setohy. He is currently working on a PhD at the School of Music and Fine Art, University of Kent.

Sandro Mussida is a London-based composer, cellist and electronics performer. His work questions the identity of musical languages and traditions. In particular, he works around the interaction between acoustic, classical and electronic fields, writing for orchestra, chamber and solo instruments. Central to his work is the role of the performer, the experience of sound in space and its relationship with memory.
