An experimental drawing session led by Mario Lautier Vella

Discover new ways to draw via some fun, challenging and surprising drawing exercises in an informal, art-making session in the downstairs exhibition space.

The session will be based around the idea of ‘blind drawing’ where visitors will draw objects and then themselves without being able to see. They will also then have time to finish off any drawings they have done too. Examples of work by artists who use this practice will be shown and through the session participants will experience the advantages of this loosening up exercise.

Free or donations. No booking required but space is limited so there may be some waiting time during busier periods. Basic materials provided courtesy of Hundred Years Gallery.

Mario Lautier Vella is a cross-disciplinary artist and teacher whose drawing, painting, photography, video, sound, sculpture, installation, book arts and performance has been exhibited across the UK and abroad. His work explores the presence of the curious, esoteric and uncanny in our everyday lives – when the familiar becomes unfamiliar, notions of looking and being looked at, speculation, suggestion and second guessing – and how all of this is experienced, recorded and recalled.
