leafcuttr-terry-001This Sunday afternoon session brings together Terry Day, bamboo reed flutes, Billy Steiger, violin and Leafcutter John, electronics, with guest Chris Cousens, amplified objects.

Terry Day began improvising on the drums in a duet with his brother Pat in 1955, and in 1960 formed an improvising trio of piano, bass & drums. Since the early 1960’s he has been a first generation pioneer of Improvisation, free jazz & experimental music, having collaborated with many improvising musical luminaries, groups, dancers, painters, poets and artists from around the world.

Leafcutter John is a musical project of London-based songwriter, electronic musician and performer John Burton. He started making music around early 2000s, debuting with his Concourse E.E.P. album. John has developed a strong musical identity using processed instrumental and environmental recordings.

Chris Cousens: ‘Sounds can be produced from everyday objects e.g. kitchen implements. If those are used in a imaginative way, you can create an unique and experimental sound. My interests in generating revolutionary sounds comes from having an interesting and exploring mind’
